Supervisor-Elect Bassin Invites Public to Transition Planning Meetings


Supervisor-Elect Art Bassin has scheduled Transition Planning Meetings on three Mondays, December 14, 21 and 28, all at 7 p.m., leading up to the January 4 Town Board organization meeting.

Art Bassin Wins Ancram Supervisor Seat


After the canvass of the machine vote on election day, Democrat Art Bassin led incumbent Republican Thomas Dias 317 to 302.

Bassin widened his lead considerably in the absentee ballots, picking up 21 votes to Dias’s 8 in the first round of absentee ballot counting and 75 to Dias’s 8 in the second round.

The final tally in the Ancram Supervisor race is Bassin 413 and Dias 318.

Ancram Democrats Hold Caucus

Ancram Town Democrats decisively backed Art Bassin as their candidate for town supervisor in the November election.

At the Democrats’ August 8 caucus, Mr. Bassin, the chairman of the town’s Comprehensive Plan Committee, beat back a challenge from Rick DuBray by a vote of 74 to 25, with 3 Democrats voting No, meaning they did not support either candidate. Mr. Bassin narrowly lost his bid for a seat on the Town Board in 2007.
